Our Mission

To preserve, enhance and celebrate the rich history of Gifford by enriching life through the introduction and education of culturally significant programing to constituents of indian River County and the Treasure Coast community.

Our Beginning

The Gifford Community Cultural & Resource Center transformed the Historic Macedonia Church, Built in 1908 by black railroad laborers, into the Gifford HistoricAl Museum & cultural center. fulfilling A 20 year dream for the Gifford Progressive Civic League and the M.L.K. Birthday Committee. The dedication was held on February 24, 2018, 20 years to the date of the Historic Church Restoration Dedication Project. The Gifford Community Cultural & Resource Center, a non-profit 501(c)(3), volunteer-based organization, oversees the operation of the museum, as well as its extension, the Gifford High School Legacy Room, located in the Gifford Middle School.

Where we are today

The museum now serves as a Cultural Center for the community. Permanent collections and special Exhibitions include: local artists, such as six original Florida Highwaymen, second generation Highwaymen, a Black History Library, Children’s Library, African artifacts in addition to documents, photographs and ephemera from Gifford pioneers and notables throughout Indian River County.
